Rangboom lets you share your pictures, videos and other files with your family and friends. No need to trust your data to a central storage server or risk sending them as e-mail attachments. Rangboom gives you a private network. Your files stay on your disk and your trusted group can access them just like a local file, if they want to, when they want to.
Example: Bob and Carol Sanders need to share pictures, important documents and spreadsheets on their computers. Bob created a Rangboom group (sanders) and invited Carol to join the group. Through Rangboom, each can view the other's shared folders and files the same way as a local file on his or her computer. Here is Bob's view of Carol's shared files. Folders and Files that actually reside on Carol's computer have been highlighted:
One of the many ways that Rangboom can be used is to give you access to your data on your home or office computer from anywhere. With Rangboom service installed on your PC, you can secure your system by fully enabling your firewall, and leaving it connected to the Internet. Once you're on the road, you join your private network and access the files you have shared.
Example: Bob and Carol Sanders need to share pictures, important documents and spreadsheets on their computers. Bob created a Rangboom group (sanders) and invited Carol to join the group. On their own computers, where they have installed the Rangboom client, each can view the other's shared folders and files the same way as a local file on his or her computer. Here is Bob's view of Carol's shared files. Folders and Files that actually reside on Carol's computer have been highlighted:
Additionally, when Bob or Carol want to access their own or each other's files from any other place (e.g. in an Internet cafe), each can log into the Rangboom service using secure HTTP, and access their data. The following shows Bob's and Carol's view respectively; Both are accessing Bob's files residing on his computer at home.
With Rangboom you can create secure networks for collaboration and data sharing with anyone. With thousands of public WiFi networks at hotels, coffee shops and other public spaces, you can quickly establish an ad-hoc virtual network over which you can securely share files, collaborate or play.
