Rangboom Privacy Policy

Protecting your privacy and protection of your data as it transits through our systems and servers is of utmost importance to us. We value the trust you put in us to handle your data. In order to provide our service we have to collect and track some information about you.

Type and Usage of Personal Information

In order to provide our service and maintain it we collect and use the following type of information:

1. When you sign up for our service we request a valid email address where you receive your invitation and a ticket to join. To complete the registration process other information is then requested to uniquely identify you. Some information, such as user ID and password, is used to protect your name space from unauthorized access.
2. All HTTP access is logged by our servers. The information that is logged includes the requested URL, the Internet address of the browser machine and the name of the user ID of the user whose credentials were used to gain authorization. We use this information for maintenance of our service, such as detecting service affecting problems.
3. All connections made by the Rangboom Agent (Client) are logged by our servers. Server logs include the Internet address of the client computer, the User ID of the user whose credentials were used to gain authorization and the group ID to which the client is exporting (exposing) its name space. We use this information to help maintain our service and to detect service affecting problems.

Data That Is Visible To Rangboom

All access through our servers are encrypted. This applies to connections made by the Rangboom Agent (Client) and access through the web user interface. However inside our servers your data must be decrypted. Therefore, your shared name space is visible to our servers. We will NOT look into your data, using either automated or human processes, unless we are required to do so by law.

Security of Your Shared Name Space

The collection of folders and files that you want to share (i.e. your name space) will be exposed through the Rangboom agent to the Rangboom service. Our servers are Name Space switches (or multiplexers). We only allow access to your data (your name space) to you and those you invite into your group. We do not cache any of the data that transits through our servers, or make backup copies in any way.

Legal Obligations

Information that is shared between users of a group are subject to the terms and conditions of the Rangboom service. Exchange of copyrighted material, where you are not the copyright owner or exchange of illegal content is a violation of the terms of usage. Any such violation is sufficient for suspension of our service to the offending User ID and the Group ID(s) that he/she owns.

We may be required by law to provide access to your information to law enforcement authorities. In such a case, we will make all attempts to restrict access to such information to the account in question.

Your Control

You can control the number and type of files you share through Rangboom by properly narrowing the Root Folder option of the Rangboom Agent. You also control the membership of groups owned by you. Lastly, you have control over the Rangboom Agent. When you shutdown the Rangboom client (Exit menu option) you eliminate Rangboom server's visibility into your exported name space.

Changes to This Policy

We may change this privacy policy. Any change to the policy will include an effective date, noted at the top of the page. If the change is significant we will put a change notification on Rangboom Home page. We will always include a link from Rangboom Home page to this privacy policy document.
